The Cooperatores Veritatis International Conference is the inaugural event organized by the Fundación Internacional Ratzinger (International Ratzinger Foundation), founded by professors Marcela Jiménez Unquiles, Alejandro Sada, and Rudy A. de Assunção. The foundation’s primary objective is to establish an extensive network of researchers across various fields of knowledge to perpetuate systematic studies on the profound intellectual and spiritual legacy of Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI.

The first edition of the Conference will be hosted by the Universidad Panamericana (Mexico City) and dedicated to the theme Joseph Ratzinger in Dialogue with Philosophical Traditions. In 2021, Alejandro Sada, Tracey Rowland, and Rudy A. de Assunção initiated a research project reflecting on the significance of Ratzinger’s idea that the circularity between philosophy and theology should be “extended a little further.” The project aimed to illuminate diverse forms of collaboration between philosophy and theology and, ultimately, between faith and reason. In this context, the researchers aimed to publish a collective work analyzing how Joseph Ratzinger maintained a fruitful dialogue with philosophy. The result of this effort is a book set to be published in four languages (English, Spanish, German, and Portuguese). Nineteen authors, including four Ratzinger Prize winners, explore how Ratzinger engages with the great philosophers of the Western tradition and dialogues with them from his unique theological perspective. Each chapter is dedicated to a specific philosopher, ranging from Plato to Gianni Vattimo. Furthermore, several researchers are working on new chapters for a second volume, continuing the exploration with prominent figures not covered in the first book, such as Aristotle, Pascal, Kierkegaard, Adorno, Horkheimer, and others.

With this background, the Universidad Panamericana and the Fundación International Ratzinger (Ratzinger International Foundation) have decided to organize and host the first Cooperatores Veritatis Conference. During the days of the event, the book Joseph Ratzinger in Dialogue with Philosophical Traditions will be officially launched. Also, the event will offer a space for reflection and dialogue that will be useful to everyone, especially to those who are in the process of writing a new chapter for the second volume of the book. For three days, renowned academics will give lectures on their respective research, we will have moments of conviviality and exchange of ideas. We will hold a ceremony to officially launch the International Ratzinger Foundation and incorporate the first group of members. Finally, we will make a pilgrimage to visit Our Lady of Guadalupe.
